Professional Services for Artists and Arts Organizations
In the arts, it is essential to learn to be one’s own advocate. Writing clear, concise statements is a crucial means to communicate ideas across disciplines and audiences. I offer a range of professional expertise for artists and arts organizations to create compelling presentations and effective applications.
Impactful Proposals from Conceptualization to Presentation
I offer substantive editing and review services to develop ideas and tailor your project to specific opportunities, including customized advice to create compelling narrative writing and select documentation. I have experience with technical filing details for numerous grant applications with city, government, and private foundations. I have further experience writing press releases, artist bios, academic job filings, resumes and more.
Experience
I am a Los Angeles based visual artist, writer, and organizer. My work has been included in numerous exhibitions with projects featured in The Los Angeles Times, Artform, LA Weekly, Art 21 Blog, Artbound, Frieze, New American Paintings, and X-TRA Contemporary Art Quarterly. I hold an MFA from California Institute of the Arts and a BFA with Language and Literature minor from Maryland Institute College of Art. My professional experience includes administrative roles in the non-profit arts sector, with expertise including curating, grant writing, project development, fundraising, and public outreach. I founded and direct KNOWLEDGES, a curatorial initiative that has produced two large-scale exhibitions at Mount Wilson Observatory (2012, 2017) and established a new context for artists that explore cosmic concepts. KNOWLEDGES received a 2016 inaugural grant from the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts. I also worked for four years as Associate Director of the Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound (SASSAS) to develop, present, and fund a number of adventurous experimental art and sound programs. I have filed dozens of successful grants, assisting artists and arts organizations to further their mission.
Results
How we define success is the first step toward achieving it. There are many factors that contribute to the realization of a project—some of which may be beyond control—but how you present yourself and your work is within reach. Honing your presentation and articulation of ideas is an investment that will serve you in the long run across many fronts. Putting your ideas into the world with confidence and clarity is a critical component to realizing your creative project.
